Sunset Road
The Massachusetts real-estate market was much hotter than we expected. When we got
here, we quickly figured out that there were very few homes on the market
and that they were all
colonials.
We knew we wanted something contemporary, but there was
nothing available.
We hoped that
when spring came and the weather got better, something would show up.
Then we saw a listing in Carlisle for something called a
"deck-house".
We had been concentrating on communities closer to Andover
and hadn't really looked there. So we went to check it out and
it turned out to be an Eichler- wannabe. Also happens that
there are lots of them in Carlisle/Acton...
..so we began looking exclusively in Carlisle. Our broker,
Carrie Hines,
found another deck-house for us, but we got outbid by someone that offered $30K over asking...
Then we heard about another contemporary that was coming on the market. We took a ride by and
liked it. We made an offer on it the day we looked at it;
and (fortunately) outbid the other buyer and got it!
Here's our new street- we're on a cul-de-sac with 3 other houses.
Our driveway is on the left, just behind the white sign.
Our closest neighbor's driveway is straight ahead; the other 2 are off to the right somewhere and we can't see their houses from ours!
Privacy... what a concept!
Here's the view from the street looking down the driveway- front door is straight ahead, garage to left, and the silo
wraps around the staircase...
Here's the rear view showing all 3 floors.
kitchen, family room, living room, dining room are on the middle level.
Bedrooms, office and playroom are on the bottom level.
Master bedroom is on the top level.
Starting down the driveway, if you look left, here's our front yard...
...and a better view of the garage and front door (to the right).
