HVAC System

This task is to replace the HVAC and water heater systems in the house.  We recently had natural gas piped in from the street and so we're converting from oil to gas for our heating system.  We'll use a single boiler to heat our water from now on (currently electric, very slow and expensive).
Some background- as near as we can tell, the current system  is the 3rd heating system that's been in this house-
  • The first was a geothermal system utilizing a heat pump and deep well- apparently that system lasted 2 years before they replaced it....
  • The second was probably an oil burner
  • This current oil burner was installed in 1996...
...and here it is now- lovely flue pipe... lovely, eh?
we'll also get to reclaim this space-
  • the tan tank is from the defunct solar heater- gone!
  • the gray tank is an electric water heater- it's been recycled to chip duval's house and heats water for him now
  • the black tanks are old oil tanks and they're going away
We hired Jim Papalia Plumbing to fix this for us.  In 2 days they ripped out the previous system and installed this!

Our new water heater- an Ultra SuperStor SSU-80.  An 80 gallon tank indirect tank, stainless steel lined, lifetime warranty and a recovery rate of 6 gallons a minute so we'll never run out of hot water again!  (also, the new tank is directly under the kitchen sink, so we get almost instant hot water there!!)
Also note that the flue pipe has disappeared!  We now do a direct vent out the front of the house.  All in all, we're extremely pleased with this change- we're hoping for years of trouble free service!
