Shubert Drive

We went 0-3 on our first 3 housing offers... then we found this house.

We didn't know there were Eichlers in Saratoga until we stumbled across them while checking out a FSBO on craigslist. One of the Eichlers we saw had a pile of junk in the front yard, so George drove by a few days later and knocked on the door and asked them if they were selling.  They said no, but the local neighborhood historian happened to stop by and told George about this house- turns out it's was an estate sale and the neighbor had the executor's contact info.

George contacted the executor and wrote him a letter; several weeks later, we heard back from his realtor that the house had been listed!

This house needs tons of works (termites, roof leaks, years of neglect)- our kind of house!

Then another eichler down the street came on- it's smaller but in much better condition with a better lot... and it was $100K more, so we had no idea what to offer...

Offers were due Wednesday, 6-oct-04 at noontime; when we met our broker that morning, we still had no idea how much to offer.  We decided to put our best price on the table and the next day at 1:30pm, we got the official word that they accepted our offer!

we closed on 22-oct-04, but it will be a little while before we host our first party ;-)
