the Playhouse

for Christmas, 2005, the girls wanted a new kitchen set; and we had no where to put it.
MJ and Caky figured out that the girls needed a playhouse...and that George would build it.
HERE's what we started with- an old fence and a dying bush in the middle of our proposed site...
Site prep is done and foundation blocks are laid.
Foundation for this whole thing is 4 x 4 PT, lag-bolted together, with hardware cloth underneath to stop rodents and 6 mil plastic over the top to stop termites...
All the walls got built at the back of the pool room; then we temporarily put casters underneath them and MJ and George rolled them into place. All the studs came from the recycle yard (and, yes, it is tyvek wrapped!)
HERE's what we got done in one long day (actually, we got half the front on and a the roof plywood, too, before it started to rain.
A couple of days later, framed the front door and window from 2 X stock. Also cleaned up the (recycled) windows, built the exterior trim for them and installed them.
Here it is, (recycled) door cut down and installed; fixed acrylic lite next to door done and the first coat of finish paint dry.
In order to play at night, we needed lights... so ran a 15A GFCI protected circuit underground to the house.
The other half George's crew- MJ's using oil-based primer on the roof boards. all the plywood in the structure was primed both sides before installation. As one friend pointed out, this shed is built better than my house!
