Padua

On the road to Venice.
We were planning on spending a night in Venice, but noticed the rates on the mainland were 65% less, so George found a hotel in Padua.
It seemed pretty ideal, close to the train line and affordable.
When we got off the train, we found it- Hotel Monaco and checked in.
We ignored all the warning signs like-
  • it didn't look at all like the pictures on the website;
  • the room key was a skeleton key;
  • the crack dealers were having a convention at the end of the block; and
  • the "continental breakfast" was a gift certificate at the McDonald's next door...
We stashed our bags in the room and quickly headed for Venice.
While having lunch, we decided that instead of going to Florence the next day, we'd go tonight instead...!
So when our train got back to Padua, we ransomed our way out of the room and hopped back on the train to Florence.
