Spezia

We left San Gimignano at 2 and gave ourselves plenty of time to drive to Spezia and dump our car... or so we thought... Road traffic slowed us down and we didn't get to Spezia until 4 and discovered it was rush hour, market day and no map so we're lost!

We followed the signs to the train station. George double-parked while MJ found directions. We drove to the Hertz storefront but there wasn't any parking! We circled the block, found a spot, ransomed the car, got a taxi and hopped the train. By 5:15 we were in Riomaggiore, schlepping our bags up the hill... we finally checked into our hotel 1/2 hour before they closed! |
