The Atrium

ONE of the first jobs was to update the sprinkler system for the future plants.  Since there was already an outlet in the atrium, we just had to update it.  Easy.  10 minute job...
HOWEVER, as george was unthreading the old faucet, the 30 year old iron pipe nipple broke off inside the wall... Since is was inaccessible from the hallway, we had to lift a sheet of siding to repair it. Totall time: 4 hours instead of 10 minutes
THE next task was to get remove all the shit brown tile from the floor- george went down to san antonio and el camino and hired a slave to do this.
It's looking better already...!
HERE's George supporting the roof with only one hand... isn't that amazing?

(what's really going on here is that we had to move the support beams; the new beams have been installed, and george is ripping out the old one- he's not really that strong with just one hand... ;-)

WELL, Sherman, if we set the way back machine to fast-forward 2 months, we see that new concrete has been poured and george has framed out the new front door and installed the new door.

EVENTUALLY, all the windows showed up. We got them from Brothers Custom Windows in San Carlos and, if i never do business with them, that's OK. They blew by all their delivery deadlines and just didn't seem to give a shit.
Dream workshop for every man...  mj allows me to maintain this mess in the middle of our house (the atrium)...and since i don't have to clean up until the atrium is done, the atrium may never get finished...!
Anyhow, this is the before and after shots...
