Today is BEAM day. HERE's the slot we cut in the roof- none of the saws worked well on the tar-soaked redwood, so we ended up cutting the whole thing with a Bosch jigsaw..! |
|
HERE's Dave and Jason and some of the scaffolding. We used bottle jacks to hold the existing beams in place. Then we rented a couple of Genie-lifts (one shown here on left) and set up the scaffolding and basically just slid beam into place- (this only took 4 hours or so...) |
|
We were thinking we could just slide the beam, but that didn't work. Fortunately, we had also grabbed a come-along, so we set that up and it worked like a champ. |

The team (Jason, George and Dave) sets the final support post. Thanks tons to Jason and Dave- they spent the whole weekend here..! This could not have happened without their help. |
| Jason and Scooby spend some quality time together. |
