the Cape in July

WE vacated the corporate condo on 26-jul-01, but we didn't close on our new house for another week...
so we went on vacation!
We rented a townhouse at Ocean Edge in Brewster, MA and took a few days off.
No trip to the cape is complete without a visit to Berry, MJ's great aunt.  She lives in a terrific spot just east of the camp and right on cape cod bay.  She's been involved with CCSC all her life.
Here she is with Jordan.
One day we took the kids for their first trip to P-Town (that's "Provincetown" for you lubbers, the town on the very end of cape cod).  Here's George pushing the kids towards the Pilgrim's Monument, this massive tower that overlooks all of P-Town.
P-Town actually seemed bigger than ever... Now there's a chunk of main street north of the wharf...  Shown here is a hippy-dippy tourist trap sort of store (named "Spank the Monkey") - this is pretty typical of P-Town.
The next day, George's sisters and their kids came to visit.   Here's Brendan, Audrey, MJ, Sharon and Kimmie on the back lawn of the big house....
...and here's the big house.  It's been the center of activity for the camp since it's founding 75 years ago!
As always, these young ladies enjoy camp even though they're too short for most of the activities at this point!
We also spent some time with MJ's parents while we were down there.  Here's Carol entertaining Jordan with her new hand puppet.
No trip to the cape would be complete without breakfast at Nonnie's;  here we are with the whole crew (from the left, Daniel, Audrey, Sharon holding Taylor, Brendan, MJ and Kimmie holding Jordan)
George's nephew Daniel, trying to finish the stack of chocolate chip pancakes... ordering them seemed like a good idea at the time ;-)
At low tide, cape cod bay turns into a giant sand bar and you can walk out for miles.  So, later that day, we took a walk down out on the flats.
A good shot of George's sister Sharon and his dad, hanging out on the flats.

...and Taylor, being the center of attention.  Shown here with Audrey (left), Daniel and George's mother (squatting)
