Napa with Louis, Kay and Big Dogs- Nov/96

ltr k mj geo at fridays THE Adventure began with...(drum roll please...) food!
First we stopped for an elegant lunch of French Fries and Mozarella Sticks at Friday's.

THEN it was on to Sonoma.
mj k ltr in cave Our first stop was at the Beringer Winery. We went on the tour and got to see the
wine caves first hand. The caves are used for aging wine in oak barrels
and were all dug by hand (at slave wages) back in the '20s.

geo k ltr at sebastiani HERE we are at Sebastiani in downtown Sonoma.
They have the second largest oak barrel on the planet.
It holds over 160,000(?) gallons of wine and would easily suffice
for one of our parties...

lotsa st bernards THAT night, we stayed at the Big Dog Bed and Breakfast in Sonoma.
It's called that because they raise St. Bernards there (good guess!)
They had 6 dogs on premises at that time, and we got to visit with them.
They are extremely happy and playful dogs and don't understand how big
they really are (at 175 lbs each!)

geo mj and senta

HERE we are with Senta (short for Sentimental Journey- her dad was a champion named Journey).
She was a great dog and just wanted us to rub her tummy!

THE Next day, we toured around some more and took in Chateau St. Jean (great merlots!)
and the Gloria Ferrer Champagne caves (a must see! the tour is very interesting!)

Another whirlwind weekend ended as we packed Louis and Kay back on their plane
and they jetted back to Seattle.

This weekend reinforced Garth Conboy's sage advice
"Life is too short to drink cheap wine"
